The ground rules,kept simple.
How to use this website, and the general terms that apply when we work together.
This is a draft for review. Have a qualified professional review it before publishing.
01About these terms
These terms explain the rules for using the Isolora website and the general terms that apply when you work with us. "Isolora", "we" and "us" mean Isolora LLC. "You" means anyone who uses the site or our services.
By using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
02Using this website
You are welcome to browse, read and share links to our pages. When you use the site, please do not:
- Try to break, overload or gain unauthorized access to the site or the systems behind it
- Use the contact form to send spam, harmful code, or anything unlawful
- Copy large parts of the site to pass off as your own
- Scrape the site in a way that harms its performance
If you find a security issue on our own website, we would love to hear about it. Please email us the details privately instead of testing further.
03General information, not legal advice
Our articles, guides, FAQs and examples are here to help you understand technology. They are general information. They are not legal advice, and they are not a security assessment of your particular situation.
Every business is different. Before you make an important decision, especially one about legal compliance, talk to a qualified professional who knows your details. Example scenarios and example answers on this site are labelled as examples and are for illustration only.
04Our services and your agreement
Contacting us or reading about a service does not create a client relationship. Paid work begins only when we both sign a written agreement or statement of work.
That agreement sets out what we will do, what is included, timelines, fees and anything specific to your project. If the agreement and these terms ever disagree, the signed agreement wins.
05Security testing needs written permission
Testing a system without permission can be illegal, even when the intention is good. So we follow a firm rule:
- Written permission first. We only perform security testing, including audits, vulnerability scans and checks of older systems, after the owner of each system has given written permission.
- Clear scope. The agreement lists exactly which systems, addresses, accounts and time windows are included, and which testing methods we will use.
- We stay inside the lines. We will not test anything outside the agreed scope. If we come across something outside it, we stop and ask before going further.
- Third-party services. Some systems are hosted by other companies, such as website builders or cloud providers, with their own testing rules. You agree to tell us about these, and we will follow their rules.
We will not test systems that belong to someone else on your behalf, and we may decline or pause work if authorization is unclear.
06Your responsibilities
Good work depends on both of us. When you hire us, you agree to:
- Keep current backups of your website, data and systems before work begins. We work carefully, but testing and fixes can occasionally cause unexpected behavior.
- Give us accurate information about your systems, who owns them, and anything we should be careful with.
- Have the authority to grant access. You confirm you own the systems and accounts you share, or have written permission from the owner to let us work on them.
- Share access safely, using the secure method we agree on, and remove or change our access when the work is complete.
- Review our findings and decide which recommendations to put in place. Decisions about your business remain yours.
07No guarantee of perfect security
We will always do careful, honest work. Still, no audit, scan or fix can find every weakness or prevent every attack. New threats appear all the time, and systems change after we look at them.
Our reports reflect what we found within the agreed scope, at the time of the work. We cannot guarantee that any website, system or AI tool is free of vulnerabilities, or that it will stay secure in the future.
08Intellectual property
The content of this website, including text, illustrations, our logo and the Isolora name, belongs to Isolora unless we say otherwise. Please do not reuse it without permission, apart from sharing links and short quotes with credit.
Ownership of work we create for clients, such as websites, reports and automations, is set out in each written agreement. Unless that agreement says otherwise, once you have paid in full, you own the final deliverables made for you. We keep ownership of our general tools, templates and know-how, and may reuse them in other work without sharing your confidential information.
09Limitation of liability
We provide this website "as is". We work to keep it accurate and available, but we cannot promise it will always be error-free or online.
To the extent the law allows, Isolora is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, lost data or business interruption, arising from your use of this website or our services. Our total responsibility for any claim related to our services is limited to the fees you paid us for the services in the 12 months before the claim.
Some places do not allow certain limits on liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10Indemnity
If you break these terms, misuse the site, or give us access to systems you did not have the right to share, and that leads to a claim against Isolora, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of that claim, including legal fees.
11Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the courts located in Washington, unless a written agreement between us says otherwise.
If a problem comes up, please talk to us first. Most things can be sorted out with a conversation.
12Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Changes do not affect a signed agreement that is already in place unless we both agree in writing.
